What Is RSS And Why Subscribe To It?

By Joshua Elliot On April 11, 2009 Under Website General

RSS is a real deal in getting your readers to read your blog of website on the latest updates.

What is RSS? (Taken From The Web)

RSS is a file format that allows anyone with a website — from large media companies to individual commentators — to easily “syndicate” their content, similar to how comic strips and popular columns are syndicated by their owners to hundreds of newspapers. Except that on the Web, the RSS syndication is usually free, and the content that is syndicated is often not the full entry, but excerpts and links back to the originating website. Technorati uses RSS to track updates to millions of blogs.

A lot of you might be asking why do you have to subscribe, what’s in for me? One of the answer is found above, to be inform of new updates of the blog. The other is to use the content on your blog or website. This is a little tricky, that you are drawing the content from other related sites to your blog or website. Thus generating content for your readers, making your site a sticky one.

In all cases, you can choose to subscribe via the traditional bookmark way or inform you via email when there is new update. The technologies nowadays are so great that I would be judged as a extinct dinosaur if I do not use it.

You can subscribe to my RSS feed here.

OR you can subscribe to my blog via email newsletter. The reason why you should subscribe via email is that I can inform you of the latest blog post and at the same time the latest promotion that I found online, which will be a helpful to you.

Fill in your first name and your primary email below. By the way, there is a free 10 page report on website building and it will help you in your website creation walk. Or you can choose both RSS and email newsletter.
