Finding the Right WYSIWYG Editor For You

All websites are coded using HTML. This language tells the various browser you want your site to be seen by the use of various tags. Microsoft Expression Web is the replacement to Frontpage that Microsoft created to target more serious designers. The package offers many of the same features and standards as Dreamweaver, but is missing the support that was available in Frontpage. As a result it requires a lot of learning as well as costing $300.

KompoZer is an open source editor. The software is free to download and produces a standards compliant HTML web editor. However, it lacks the advanced applications that software like Dreamweaver offers. It does do a sufficient job and includes FTP so the site can go online easily.

Other web editors that worth checking out include SeaMonkey and CoffeCup. SeaMonkey is free and is part of a complete internet application suite as part of the Mozilla project. CoffeeCup has a lot of good features and is a fraction of the cost of many other programs.  The package also offers renowned support and free upgrades.
