Finding the Right WYSIWYG Editor For You
A WYSIWYG web editor can let you easily and quickly develop your own website. There are many of these editors available today so be sure to find the one that properly suits your business needs.
All websites are coded using HTML. This language tells the various browser you want your site to be seen by the use of various tags. HTML coding can be a daunting challenge and many people simply don’t have the time to learn it themselves. An editor allows you to create the content for your site without needing to know HTML. This is great for beginners that have no background knowledge in web design.
The premier WYSIWYG editor is Adobe Dreamweaver. This is a highly feature package that supports XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, PHP and more. It also offers integration with other Adobe Creative Suite with products including Photoshop.
Microsoft Expression Web is the replacement to Frontpage that Microsoft created to target more serious designers. The package offers many of the same features and standards as Dreamweaver, but is missing the support that was available in Frontpage. As a result it requires a lot of learning as well as costing $300.
KompoZer is an open source editor. The software is free to download and produces a standards compliant HTML web editor. However, it lacks the advanced applications that software like Dreamweaver offers. It does do a sufficient job and includes FTP so the site can go online easily.
Other web editors that worth checking out include SeaMonkey and CoffeCup. SeaMonkey is free and is part of a complete internet application suite as part of the Mozilla project. CoffeeCup has a lot of good features and is a fraction of the cost of many other programs. The package also offers renowned support and free upgrades.
So which is the one suitable for me? You will have to try it out yourself.
