It’s good to have a checklist after you have completed your website or web page. Reason why is that you may have miss out something that is very critical to your online marketing, and some search engines like Google do not like incomplete links network in the website. Below are some of my checklists:

1) Check On All Internet Browsers. You may have seem websites that do not look right in a Internet Explorer but it looks okay in Firefox, they just look different to you. It is good to install all the web browsers on your computer, so you can see the difference in the outlook of your website in different browsers.

2) Check All Links Not Broken. Easy say than done, right? That is the price for good ranking in Google, that is to have no broken links. How do we find out where our broken links are. The hard way is to check page by page, clicking all the links on the web page. The easier way is to use Google Webmaster Tools to find out where are your broken links, and you can go in to amend it. It is free to use and its very friendly too. You will be very surprise to find out what Google is looking for in a good website through Google Webmaster Tools.

3) Check Navigation Buttons. This is the same as the above, just that web pages like ‘Home’, ‘About Us’, ‘Contact Us’, these pages are the basic of online user navigation on your website. Does the navigation links or buttons make it easy for your online users to navigate easily? If not, you may have to start amending them. You may have to organize the navigation links in logical way. Using graphics for the navigation will help those who do not understand English know what the link is all about. Make sure that the graphic is relevant, for example to checkout your purchases, the graphic can be a “push cart’ image.

4) Check Loading Speed. This is one of the most ignored factor in website creation. If your website does not show within 7 to 12 seconds of loading, the chances of your audience leaving is high. How to make sure your web page loads fast? To decrease the hugh files in the web page. Like image or videos, they should be in smaller files or they are position at the middle of the web page, so the readers can read the top part of the page first.

5) Check Style Type. It’s important to have the same style design for your website throughout all the web pages. This will not confuse the traffic coming to your website, and at the same time builds a brand too. So the moment the repeated traffic comes again, they will know that it is your company or brand. If you are selling to corporate clients, your website should be corporate type, your website must show a relevant feel to what you are selling online.

6) Check On Content. Besides spelling and grammar mistakes on the content, you must make sure the content is relevant to the context of your niche. Why is that? Each and every web page has it’s ranking, if you do not write relevant to your topic, Google will not give good ranking to that page and will also hurt other web pages ranking because they are inter-linked.

7) Check For On Site Optimization. This is part of search engine optimization process where you web page position in a way that people can search for you online. Find out the keywords the mass targeted traffic is using to search for your product or services, place them into important locations like title tag, description tag, and headline 1. It will help the search engines robots to know what your web page is talking about.

A checklist can help you succeed in online business and offline. Use it so that you have a higher chances of making it. Like the good old saying says “If you do not plan to win, then you are planning to lose!”

By the way, I may have missed out some other important checklist, share with us on the comment what we should do, based on your experience. I will be listening, talk to me…
