Convert Visitors to Buyers Using Photos!

By Joshua Elliot On September 12, 2009 Under Website General

Attracting-Customers(Dogs)Photos or pictures you are using in your website is a pull factor for an increase in customer conversion to sales. But not a lot of website owners are optimizing their pictures or photos to increase sales. Here are some ways that can help you in getting your visitors to stay longer and even convert to a sale:

Use Photos That Are Relevant to Your Niche

If your niche is in fitness, make sure that you have a man or woman that looks fit , healthy and beautiful. I seen some websites that have totally irrelevant pictures to what they are selling. This will not help in generating sales in any way.

Get Beautiful People To Pose For Your Website Photos

There is a study that most of us will actually be attracted to a beautiful woman or handsome man. And to convert sales, you definitely need to use a beautiful female to attract attention. Of course this is highly dependent on the niche you are in, if you are clearly in a niche of American Football, then the photos should be the football players who are men.

Clean Background Photos

Have you seen a photo that has a background that is near to a toilet or that should not be appearing in your photos? And that is what is happening in the photos, though this is not hugely seen online (Thank God!), but this can still happen to your website if you are not careful.

You now have a basic knowledge of how good professional photos or pictures should look like before appearing in your web page. And here are some tips to get professional photos for your website:

Outsource a Professional Photographer

If you have a friend who is a professional photographer, get them to help you in the photos in your pictures. They will know what to look for, give you advice and deliver professional looking photos. This is where you want to pay for the serives.

OR

DIY Photo for your website

This is the part where you need to Do-It-Yourself if you want to save on the cost for getting a great photo. Of course if you have experience in doing so, by all means do it to save cost. if you do not have any, I would recommend learning from some photography blog, that will give you tips.

OR

Buy or Borrow Ready Made Photos From the Internet

This is the quickest, time saving and cost saving alternative, you are still outsourcing, but in a much faster way. What you need to do is to search for the photos that are most suitable to your website.

One of my favorite websites is http://www.sxc.hu and http://www.flickr.com.

At SXC.HU, depending on your budget you can choose to buy photos with various different sizes. Alternatively, if you are zero budget type – you can use Creative Commons photos that can be re-posted to your website (but provide a linkback to credit it). At Flickr, such photos are commonly labelled as “Some Rights Reserved”.

Whatever choice you make on the above three, you will still need a nice professional relevant photos on your website. If you have other ways beside the three above, do share on the comment below, OR you like to share on how to get more conversion using photos or pictures, do share as well below. I like to hear how it’s done form your experience. Hear from you soon…
