10 Tips That will Leave Good First Impression For Your Visitors
Have you ever click a link to a website, the moment the website shows up, it either makes you want to know more or you find some other more professional looking website? I did, it was not the content that capture my attention but the design of the website. It is true that the first impression counts on human beings and websites too.
For a visitor to have a good impression, the first 5 seconds of your website is essential, the design will tell them what you are promoting and the product or services you are offering. Here are ten tips that will make your visitors impressed:
First, website must look professional, simple and clean. When you are shopping into a offline store, wouldn’t you be more willing to shop in a clean and simple looking shop that brings a professional look in your eyes? The products are placed neatly on the shelves, different kind of product place differently. This is what your website must have also, avoid clustering too many things on one area, and the rest left blank.
Second, website navigation must be easy and friendly. Most of the time your visitors will come from search engine results, if they find that it is hard to find what they are looking for, the chances of them going back to the search result and click on other related search, a competitor’s website that has better navigation will ease the visitor’s trouble. Your website navigation should be place on the top or side of the website, with different fronts from the other wordings.
Third, selecting a relaxed and suitable website background. Research on what type of consumers your products or services are attracting, if they are from 20 ~ 35 females find out what colour suit this range of consumers, etc. Use colour that will excite your consumers, like vibrant type of colour as well.
Forth, create a unique selling proposition (USP) for your brand, and place them throughout all the web pages. Like Fedex, they have “We live to deliver”, your business too must have that USP that is prominent on all the web pages. The best place is the header graphic as it is shown in all your web pages.
Fifth, is to tell the world what your business is about. The first 10 seconds are vital if you have invested in marketing your products or services online, then most properly these are targeted audiences. You need to make sure they stay and find out more about what you are offering them. A tagline will work fine since it is self explanatory on its own. Use the tagline as part of your branding.
Sixth, ‘Call to actions’ to be located where visitors can see them. Most of the visitors will go straight to the call to action button to find out what is your product all about, some visitors might read the content on the web page and purchase later. That is why placing of the ‘call to action’ or ‘buy’ button is very important. They must stand out from the rest of your webpage, making it hard to miss.
Seventh, display quality images and graphics. Most of your visitors will catch attention of the graphic and images you display. I have found out those graphics that move or change will have the most effect on the visitors. Images or Graphics are used to promote special offers or special occasions in the company.
Eighth, pictures displaying your products and services. Pictures works because they will show you what they are telling you. Like the good old phrase “Action speaks louder than words”.
Nineth, stand alone web pages is a must. As you do not know which web page the visitor will come from, it is best to have all your web pages stand alone. The visitor may just want to buy one product from you, the search engine will show them the most relevant links to them. This is also a search engine optimization method that is widely used in the world.
Tenth, have your navigation and links tested. Get your friends or colleague to feed back to you about the navigation of the website. If they find that its hard to find or move around the website then you must improve on the navigation system. For links that do not work, will give impression on the visitors that your website is not professional.
Remember that your website must be have the above qualities, then will the visitors stay and likely to purchase from you.
